Technical Library¶
The overall training methodology and the theoretical background of the Kyokushin training system are described in the Training section.
The Technical Library instead focuses on the practical documentation of techniques, exercises, and training sequences used in practice.
The purpose of the Technical Library is to create a structured reference where technical elements can be described, organized, and related to each other in a systematic way. Here, exercises and movements are documented as they appear in dojo training, together with descriptions that make them possible to study, analyze, and reproduce.
The material is based on the study of several types of sources, including:
- works published by Masutatsu Oyama (1923–1994)
- existing technical documentation within the system
- practical training methodology observed in the dojo environment
Since Kyokushin has historically developed through several organizations and generations of instructors, it is natural that variations exist in how certain exercises or sequences are performed and taught. The documentation presented in this library therefore does not claim to represent a single official or definitive version of each technique or training element.
Instead, the goal is to systematically describe a coherent technical practice, based on identifiable sources and the teaching methodology used in the training documented on this website.
Structure¶
Each entry in the Technical Library follows a common structure in order to make the documentation clear and consistent. Typically, each exercise or technique includes:
- Name of the exercise or technique
- Instructions in Japanese (romaji) as used during training
- Counting or rhythm
- Detailed description of the movement
- Technical or physical purpose
This structure makes it possible to work methodically with the documentation of Kyokushin's technical content and to place individual training elements within a broader systematic context.
The library includes, among other things, body preparation (Jumbi Undō), basic techniques (Kihon), kata, and other elements that together form the practical side of Kyokushin training methodology.
Use and contributions¶
The Technical Library was primarily developed as a working tool to structure and document the technical knowledge used in training and instruction. At the same time, the material is published openly so that other practitioners and instructors may benefit from it.
The content does not claim to represent an official standard within Kyokushin. Rather, it should be understood as a systematic compilation of technical elements based on available sources and practical training methodology.
Anyone who finds the material useful is free to use it for study or instruction. Feedback, corrections, and additional information are also welcome in order to improve the documentation over time.
