5. Short description

The practitioner stands in a natural stance.

The exercise trains mawashi uke, a circular blocking motion.

Movement:

  • one arm circles upward and forward
  • the other moves opposite

Performed in four directions:

  • front
  • side
  • back
  • down

Movement is rhythmic and controlled.


6. Purpose

The exercise aims to:

  • activate shoulders, elbows and wrists
  • improve coordination
  • develop understanding of circular blocking
  • prepare for uke techniques
  • improve mobility
