Short description¶
The exercise is performed in hidari sanchin no yoi, creating stability and activating the body’s center.
First, the palms are pressed together in gasshō with constant pressure. Then the fingers are opened and actively pressed to develop strength in the fingers and tendons.
The hands are shaken out to release tension.
After that, a rubbing movement between the palms and fingers is performed, with the hands moving along the body’s centerline.
The movement is performed in both directions and ends with relaxation of the hands.
Purpose¶
- strengthen the fingers, palms, and forearms
- improve grip strength and finger control
- prepare the hands for load
- increase blood circulation in the hands
- support open-hand techniques
It functions as a transition from mobilization to more technique-specific use of the hands.
Comments¶
1. Structure
The sanchin position connects hand training to the body’s center (koshi).
2. Romaji
Short commands in te-form follow dojo standard.
3. Function
The exercise prepares the hands for techniques such as seiken, teishō, and nukite.
