Translation¶
Left sanchin dachi.
Bring the backs of the hands together.

Counting¶
Ichi – Ni – San – Shi – Go – Roku – Shichi – Hachi – Kyū – Jū
Description¶
The exercise is performed in hidari sanchin dachi.
The backs of the hands are brought together in front of the body.
First phase:
- pressure is applied from above (ue kara)
- the backs of the hands press firmly together
Second phase:
- the movement is performed from below (shita kara)
- pressure is applied from a lower position
Throughout the exercise:
- elbows remain relaxed
- shoulders stay loose
- pressure is constant
After completion, the hands are shaken out.
Purpose¶
- strengthen the extensor muscles of the hand
- balance palm vs back-of-hand activation
- improve wrist and finger stability
- increase circulation
- prepare hands for striking and blocking
