Safety and responsibility
Kyokushin can be physically demanding and include hard contact. For that reason safety should be understood as discipline in practice, not as the opposite of serious training.
Technical control first
Loading poor alignment, unstable balance or uncontrolled power increases injury risk. Technical quality is therefore the first safety barrier.
Load should be progressive
Intensity and volume need to match experience, recovery and technical maturity. Rapid increases do not automatically create faster development.
Responsibility in kumite
Your training partner should be able to develop with you. Adapt intensity to the purpose of the exercise, follow instruction and stop when the situation requires it. Self-control is part of strength.
Tameshiwari and conditioning
Breaking and body conditioning require appropriate progression and technical control. They should not be used to prove toughness through unnecessary injury.
Recovery and communication
Rest and recovery are parts of the training process. The practitioner is responsible for reporting injury or limitation and for not allowing pride to replace judgement. The instructor is responsible for adapting progression, load and exercise format.
Hard training without control is merely hard. Hard training with quality, responsibility and continuity can develop the practitioner over the long term.
