Jumbi Undō – Structure

Scope

The overall training perspective is described in the Kyokushinkai section.

This page describes how Jumbi Undō is organized and performed in practice.

Sequence

Jumbi Undō is performed as a fixed and standardized series of exercises.

The order is consistent and is followed in the same way in training and instruction.

Each exercise builds on the previous one and forms part of a coherent whole.

Knowledge is developed through continuous and repeated practice.

Progression

The exercises follow a clear progression through the body:

  1. activation – feet, ankles, and balance
  2. lower body – knees and legs
  3. hips and trunk
  4. mobility and stretching
  5. seated control and flexibility
  6. standing whole-body movement
  7. upper body
  8. technical activation

This progression prepares the body step by step, from simple activation to integrated movement and technical readiness.

Numbering

The exercises are organized in a fixed order:

  • 00 – start of Jumbi Undō
  • 01–42 – exercises in sequence

The numbering corresponds to the performance in the dōjō and is used as a reference in instruction and documentation.

Counting

Standard counting is used:

Ichi, ni, san, shi, go, roku, shichi, hachi, kyū, jū

The counting governs:

  • tempo
  • number of repetitions
  • coordination in the group

It establishes a shared rhythm and structure in training.

Leadership

Jumbi Undō is led by:

  • the instructor
  • or a senior student

Commands are given clearly and the group follows together.

The leadership ensures correct tempo, rhythm, and execution.

Relation to the exercises

The structure is realized through the individual exercises in:

Each exercise is part of the whole and should be understood in relation to the sequence.
