Terminology

Yoko indicates a lateral direction. Keage indicates a rising form.

Starting position

Heikō-dachi. The hands move to the front of the obi according to the sequence.

Execution

The knee rises so the kick can travel sideways along an upward path. The movement should go outward to the side and up, not forward.
