Execution

The knee is lifted straight upward along the centerline. The leg then travels upward and forward in a rising kick and is retracted along the same line. The movement should be lifting and controlled.

  • the return follows the same line as the outward path

Common errors

  • the leg opens out to the side
  • the kick and the return follow different paths
  • the body is thrown backward
  • the kick becomes only a stretch without technique

To establish the rising front kick with control, line, and retraction.

Kata: The rising leg line recurs in certain forms.
